About the GED Social Studies Diagnostic Assessment
This diagnostic assessment is designed to measure your current readiness in GED Social Studies. The GED Social Studies test focuses on three major skill areas: reading for meaning in social studies, analyzing historical events and arguments in social studies, and using numbers and graphs in social studies. It draws content from civics and government, U.S. history, economics, and geography and the world, with the largest emphasis placed on civics and government. The purpose of this diagnostic is to help you identify your strengths and the areas where you may need more practice before taking the official exam. This assessment is not just about memorizing facts. It is designed to show how well you can read social studies passages, interpret charts and data, evaluate arguments, and apply reasoning skills to real-world historical, civic, geographic, and economic topics. On the official GED Social Studies test, you will have 90 minutes to complete the exam, and the computer-based format may include multiple choice, drag-and-drop, hot spot, and fill-in-the-blank questions. This diagnostic is meant to give you a clear picture of how prepared you are for those types of tasks and to guide your next steps in building confidence and test readiness.
